This Thursday I'll be at Sobo Pizza Kitchen(I guess it's a bar also?) in Norfolk near ODU painting and showing my work. I'm a bit nervous about painting in front of people. I hope the lighting is good and the strangers are nice. The following Tuesday I'll be at Red Star Tavern(along with Jason) showing work all night. We'll also be at HeroesCon, http://www.heroesonline.com/heroescon.html , in North Carolina in two weeks. Jason will be there for Image Comics to help advertise Comic Book Tattoo. I'll be there lurking tables and trying to get the Perry Bible Fellowship guy to be my friend.
The yellow bits look odd because they're actually gold paint and metallic paints don't photograph well. This is acrylic on an oval wood plaque. http://www.lizzelizzel.com
This is just a progress shot. White fur is a bit weird to paint. I try to paint how something would feel to touch, rather than what it really looks like. I probably shouldn't do that.
There's a part of a Kafka story 'Description of a Struggle' that I can barely remember, but it's teasing me a lot. It's a part that's stayed with me for a long time for narcisstic reasons. It's about a girl/woman looking like she's been looked at too much. Something about her face being like a dress that's been worn too much and needs to have the dust shaken out of the the folds. It bothered me a lot, because it reminds me that I've learned to look at myself with a male gaze.
