Jason promised me another drawing from some of these pictures. He started drawing me as soon as he met me. Somewhere in a drawer there is a scrap of paper where he doodled cartoon versions me the day after meeting me. I've been given songs but they felt like they could have been written for anyone. Jason's drawings seemed so much more personaly and/or they tickled my vanity in just the right way. I think one of the many reasons I'm trying to lose weight is because I want to remain someone he wants to draw. I have to admit I prefer when he draws me more like a cartoon than a portrait. I think caricatures/cartoons speak more to how you see someone than just recording a likeness. lalalala, whatever. I think the dress in these pictures is an old Hardy's uniform. When I was at Heroes Con I heard some dude whisper 'is that girl wearing a Hardy's uniform?' I was pissed and then realized he may be right.
NO FIREWORKS LAST NIGHT! It was lightening and the cops shooed everyone home. It started pouring hard. It sucked at first then it became fun. As soon as you're soaked the rain ceases to be a big deal. It reminded me of home. I'd get caught in the rain late at night and love it. Being alone gives you space for faux lofty thoughts.

I'm trying to post something once a day, whether it sucks or not.
The TP roll is for a logo. I plan on having 'lizzelizzel' written on the TP in lipstick. I just need to find a good script font (maybe a crayon one?), add the lipstick and figure out how to vectorize it without losing it's personality.
I downloaded the trial version of Sketchbook pro and am liking it so far!
ETA - I think I'm going to stick to editing posts instead of posting several times a day unless I have a new image.
Alanis Morrissette keeps poping up on my pandora station and I don't like it.
I miss Jason so much while I'm at work, but when I go home I feel like I ignore him. There is so much to worry over while there that I forget to enjoy him.
Guess what? My head is exacty one inch larger than normal. I knew I had a big noggin.

We just got back! I never want to be in a car again!
It was a really good time. I found new and unusual ways to embarrass myself and that is always a plus.
We spent more money than we have on comics, sustenance and the hotel but it was all worth it.
Jason did end up selling some prints so that helped off set the cost. It came rolling in and I spent it on
bound drawings.
I met many nice people and I hope that I didn't creep any of them out with my blushing and giggling and fangirl-ness.
I met Hope Larson and bought two comics from her. She was extra classy and sweet. Laura Park has an adorable style and a kick ass pigeon. Paul Maybury was really kind and chatted us up in the Image Comics booth area. He can also draw reeeeeel guuud. I met fellow drawingboard-er's Joe Pekar, Dean Trippe and Alberto Ruiz. I'm pretty sure Alberto had no idea who I was but he did an excellent job pretending that he did. I think I shook Nicholas Gurewitch's hand 3 times in a row while saying goodbye, then blurted something out about him being so nice. I needed a tranquilizer! I'm surprised I didn't snort while laughing. I also have some comics from Brian McGinty and Josh Latta. They were a badass goofy duo of glasses and grins. I bought ' The Fart Party ' from Julia Wertz(psst, she was also nice) and some mini comics from nice guy Jeremy Tinder. NICE NICE NICE NICE NICE, E'ERYWUN WAZ NICE!
ETA - The small part of Charlotte I saw was nice! I really enjoyed walking around at night and being surrounded by tall buildings again. It felt good. I like feeling like a speck on the pavement.
Norfolk still smells like a forest fire bbq :(

I feel icky. I think my skin gets gummy during parts of my menstruel cycle(and no I don't have my period, but the whole month process is still part of the cycle). My ears get itchy. My hair is oily and my mouth feels filmed over. My legs are itchy and arms are rashy. Nasty. I just wanna go home change into PJs, floss, trim and paint my toe nails and then get chores done.
Or maybe I'm just getting old. Actually, I am old because I now have kick ass prescription sunglasses, but they're not gramma raybans, promise!
Our AC has been broken for about 5 days. Luckily it's working now, but that means I have a crap load of chores to do. I wasn't able to get anything done. You try doing the dishes when you're kitchen is in the 90s.

Why the hell is Norfolk covered in smoke? I can't tell where it's coming from. I haven't heard any sirens. I called 911 and they told me they're aware of it. Pilotonline has nothing about it. It couldn't be from the forest fires in North Carolina, could it?

Supah Sizzling Weekend

Jason, I and the kids went to DC this weekend along with our neighbor and her daughter. We spent all of Saturday at the zoo. It was about 100 degrees out but we did it! And we still managed to have fun. I saw A REAL LIVE CUTTLEFISH! They had two in the invertabrates section. They are as cute as they are in pictures. I wanted to tickle their cephalopod tummies.
Alpaca's also are the best. They have fuzzy bee legs. One of the elephants was playing in it's watering hole like a baby in a bath. I enjoyed hearing kids scream in horror when the elephant took a dump while bathing.
We spent the night at some hipster hotel. It made the kids feel cool and 'downtown'.
The next day we went to the Natural Science Museum. As dorky as this sounds, my favorite part was the geology section. I wanted to whip out a sketchbook and draw minerals all day. All the strollers and screaming kids were a bit much. There was a butterfly exhibit and some parents stood by and watched as their toddler stomped on a butterfly for fun. They were freaked out but yet didn't do anything to stop it. Besides the bug murder, it was beautiful. Giant butterflies landed in our hair and faces.
I can't put it all down, but I had a good time. We didn't stay very long on Sunday because of the heat, but we made one last stop. We took the kids on the subway and I was so surprised by how amazed they were.

Anyone on my flist a good writer? I truly have some great ideas for children's books/poems based on some of my drawings. I even have the stories gridded out, but I can't finish them! I used to be good at it. So many children's books center only on the drawings, or are dumbed down. Simple and clever are possible!

Upcoming Fun

This Thursday I'll be at Sobo Pizza Kitchen(I guess it's a bar also?) in Norfolk near ODU painting and showing my work. I'm a bit nervous about painting in front of people. I hope the lighting is good and the strangers are nice.
The following Tuesday I'll be at Red Star Tavern(along with Jason) showing work all night.
We'll also be at HeroesCon, http://www.heroesonline.com/heroescon.html , in North Carolina in two weeks. Jason will be there for Image Comics to help advertise Comic Book Tattoo. I'll be there lurking tables and trying to get the Perry Bible Fellowship guy to be my friend.
